Birth Doula.

£1400

  • 3 x antenatal appointments - more if needed

  • Birth attendance

  • 1 x postnatal appointment - more if needed

  • Unlimited phone contact from booking until 6 weeks post birth

I will be a constant presence during your birth, with you throughout your labour until a few hours after your baby is born. I will support you physically and emotionally, working to create a calm and safe environment and advocating for you to ensure your wishes are heard. My aim is to give you the best possible chance of an empowering and magical birth.

I work with your partner to ensure they too have a positive experience of the birth. I can also be your primary birth partner.

I support all births and have experience of physiological birth, water birth, induction birth, instrumental birth and caesarean birth.

  • Following initial enquiry we would schedule a 30 minute video/ phone call to discuss a few details. I then offer a free appointment (which would normally take place in person), where we can get to know each other a little better and start the antenatal work

  • We would then schedule 2 further antenatal consultations to discuss birth plan, location, partners, history etc - these would take place before week 38 of your pregnancy - these can take place face-to-face or via video/ phone call

  • On call from 38 weeks of pregnancy - during this time I am available to you day and night and will be ready to come to you when you need me

  • Attendance at birth - I will be a constant presence, with you throughout your labour until a few hours after your baby is born. I will support you physically and emotionally, advocate for you and ensure your wishes are heard whilst working to create a calm and safe environment

  • At your birth I can remind you of your birth plan and help you to achieve it, offer support with effective breathing, offer light touch and massage, help to create and maintain the environment you would like for birth including setting up your birth pool (if using) and tidying up your birth space after if you are at home

  • 1 x postnatal visit within the first 1-2 weeks after birth - this is normally in person and would be scheduled after the birth of your baby

  • Unlimited phone support from booking to 6 weeks after birth

Upon receiving your instruction I prepare a Letter of Agreement and non-refundable invoice for 50% of the contract - the booking is confirmed when that agreement has been signed and invoice has been paid. The remaining balance is due when the on call period starts.

I have a variety of pregnancy and parenting books available to borrow along with a birth pool (and all the kit), birth ball, aromatherapy diffuser, yoga mat etc.

This is my standard birth package but I work collaboratively with my clients to create a bespoke service which suits their needs. This can include additional or extended antenatal appointments, attendance at midwife/ dr consultations, further postnatal support and an extended on-call period if you have reason to expect your baby will arrive before 38 weeks.

If you feel you would benefit from doula support but are experiencing financial hardship, I can offer my services at a reduced price and can signpost you to organisations that may be able to help cover costs, so do please get in touch to discuss this.

Here I am supporting a first-time Mum as she laboured in a pool at The Oasis Birthing Centre at the Princess Royal University Hospital

“Bea worked with us as both a birth and postnatal doula. We met early on in the pregnancy as I was very keen to have some support to help us navigate our first birth since we do not have family close by.

Bea was a huge help along the journey especially when my birth plans got slightly derailed going from a possible home birth to a C-section at the hospital after a week of on again, off again labour. It was all extremely full on but she had helped to prepare me and my husband well for all of the things the medical system hit us with. Even though a C-section was a worst case scenario for me, I felt extremely confident going into the procedure because I had been so well prepared with what to ask for and how to shift my birth wishes to suit that environment in some small ways. Sadly she couldn't be at the birth because we were in theatre but having her there for the weeks after as a post natal doula when I was processing all that happened was incredibly helpful. Having someone who understands the medical system and could be a sounding board to work through things made the healing - both mentally and physically - more manageable.

Bea is kind, caring and willing to go the extra mile for her clients and I would absolutely recommend her.”

— Alwynne - first time Mum

“Absolutely the best decision for our first baby’s birth. Bea was amazing and we cannot recommend her highly enough.

Bea came across as a strong, confident and knowledgable doula who would stand her ground if she felt needs/wants during birth weren’t being heard.

Bea was absolutely fantastic at reminding us of birth preferences, providing positive reassurance during labour and advocating our birth wishes which were a very positive contribution to our experience

She has offered a great balance of encouraging, educating and positive chat that we really needed in the lead up to baby number 1!”

— Charlotte - First time Mum

“I felt comfortable with Bea, I could relate to her and she came across very kind and caring, supportive of my wishes.

She was knowledgable, sending over information on birth preparation, optimal fetal positioning, relevant Facebook groups and Instagram accounts.

Bea was there if I needed to ask anything. She was accommodating of what I needed from a doula, even coming with me to a consultant appointment. She talked me through my decisions, helping me make informed choices. I new she had my back and could advocate for me

Bea was very supportive during my labour, helping my husband, giving me encouragement and just being there. She helped calm me, talking to me and helping me position, always there with anything I needed or she thought I could do with and answering any questions I had.

I felt very much supported through the whole pregnancy, birth and after.”

— Lisa - Third time Mum

“Bea worked with me to prepare for the birth of my first baby, and postnatally. I would wholeheartedly recommend her as a doula.

At first, I wasn’t aware of what a doula could do in full, but I knew I wanted additional support to plan and prepare for birth. I had seen a different midwife each time and know how stretched the NHS is. By opting for a doula, I knew I would have support in the run up to and importantly someone at the birth advocating for my birth plan.

As my pregnancy progressed I had more questions and Bea was only ever a WhatsApp away from supporting me with information and sound objective advice. I found Bea’s rational approach incredibly helpful, especially when pregnancy can feel very emotional.

During the birth her support for both myself and my husband was immeasurable. She helped me to stay calm and feel in control while at home which resulted in heading to hospital at the right time (I really didn’t want to be sent home which is common with first babies). Once in the birth centre, my partner and Bea worked together to make it a relaxed environment - music, candles, low light etc. and I was able to be in the water for most of my labour, with a short pushing phase on dry land!

I was in active labour for 4 hours with everything going smoothly (it was bloody hard though) but incredibly positive! Having Bea on hand to bridge the conversations between the midwife and me and advocate for how I wanted the birth to go was brilliant. My partner was able to “catch” the baby as she entered the world and also cut the cord. Bea made sure we remembered to ask the midwife to facilitate this.

Thank you Bea x”

— Hannah - First time Mum

“I could not have given the emotional support to my partner that I was able to give without Bea.

I felt reassured that my partner had access to insight that I couldn’t provide and this was available on tap throughout the pregnancy enabling her to remain as relaxed and calm as possible.

Bea helped me catch the baby which is something I didn’t even know was possible beforehand. She was able to ‘manage’ the midwives, serving as a translator of NHS speak and pick up the things that you forget.

I can’t recommend her enough - she is an enabler, allowing you to be there for your partner and new baby.”

— Ryan - First time Dad

“I booked Bea to be my Doula for my second pregnancy and birth. After a traumatic first birth, it was really important to me to have someone who could fiercely advocate for me and keep me feeling safe and calm.
That’s exactly what Bea did and SO much more.

Bea is friendly, kind, caring and calm. She is super knowledgable and just makes you feel like you are in safe hands. She is excellent at conversing with medical professionals and is able to advocate in any given situation.

I definitely gave Bea a challenge with a tricky end of pregnancy, change of hospital trust and a 7 day labour! The support she showed both me and my Husband throughout was unwavering, and she never once doubted my ability to achieve my dream birth. She empowered and enabled me to have the VBAC I so desired, and had worked so hard for. Her knowledge and experience came in really handy during the 7 long days of labour, and it meant I didn’t give up even when I was struggling.
Bea was amazing; she instinctively knew exactly what I needed, whether it be massage, a hand to squeeze or someone to lean on. I was so grateful that she was there and I felt safe and held in her presence. Bea had great resources and advice on hand whenever we needed them and her tips in early labour helped to get my baby in an optimal position.

My Husband was also glad to have her with us. She really helped him to be a brilliant birth partner and cheerleader. The two of them together made an amazing birth team!!

Bea never once doubted my ability to birth my baby on my terms and I ended up with my dream healing birth. The birth of my Son was a truly magical and emotional moment for us all and I am so glad Bea was there to share it with us. The fact Bea stuck it out with us for 7 long days is testament to her dedication to her clients. She never once faltered and she was 100% supportive the whole time. She knew how important this birth was for me and she helped to make it a reality.

If/when I have another baby, it will be Bea I will be calling first, as I will absolutely be booking her again. Our time with Bea is almost at an end, but we are bonded for life and she will always have a very special place in our hearts. Thank you Bea, for everything. We really hope we get to have another birth experience with you in the future”

Jasmine - second time Mum

“From the first enquiry email, Bea came across warm, kind and just the person you would want by your side.

I was reassured and helped through so many anxieties in pregnancy by Bea, if that was her giving support and advice or researching relevant information. Bea has such a calming energy and that's what I needed to help me through labour. She tried everything she could to make the process as calm as she could for me, talking me through every contraction, being the hand I grab and even evacuating spiders that were in my space when I wanted it gone!

She took pressure off my partner and at times guided him to comfort me himself.

Having the extra support was so beneficial. Can't thank her enough!”

— Kylie - Second time Mum

“We cannot recommend Bea enough as a birth doula - she was brilliant, and we wouldn’t have gotten through it without her!

From our first meeting, she made us feel comfortable and confident that we had made the right decision in choosing her as our birth and postnatal doula. We were - and continue to be - impressed by her warm, friendly, super-organised and responsive approach.

Bea provided incredible support, advice and reassurance throughout. She went above and beyond to make sure that we felt informed and empowered every step of the way; the antenatal discussions with her really helped us work through our birth preferences in an informed manner. Her presence during labour was calming and reassuring, and her expertise was invaluable in helping us navigate unexpected challenges. Bea truly went the extra mile - she was committed to supporting us as labour progressed at all times of day and night; she was always available for us, and we cannot thank her enough for her support when we didn’t know what to do. She is a skilled and compassionate doula who truly cares about her clients; she looked after us when we were struggling. She’ll always be a special person in our lives for what she did for us during the birth.

We are delighted to have Bea as our postnatal doula. She’s already been incredible in supporting us in so many ways as we find our feet as first-time parents. She has great advice, she’s proactive in helping us in all sorts of ways, and she has a great network that has been really helpful in accessing extra support as needed. She’s also brilliant with our new arrival too!

If you are looking for a doula, look no further than Bea! We feel so lucky that she is our doula”

— Jaz - First time Dad

“If you’re thinking of going with Bea as your doula, don’t hesitate, book her right away. As a solo mum I so valued Bea’s calming, knowledgeable approach, offering just what I needed at the right time as well as empowering me to make my own best choices. She was also a brilliant advocate in the room and I can’t imagine having done this without her. Thank you Bea and won’t hesitate to use her again”
